Cannabis in Minnesota: Legalization, Research, and Implications

Event Location

Online

This webinar, presented by the Cannabis Research Center team (CRC), will provide an overview of the policies that affect cannabis in Minnesota, an update on where the state is in the legalization process (emphasizing implementation), and highlight important implications of CRC research focusing on four research projects:

-Pseudo-underage purchase attempts of hemp-derived cannabis products in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties and implications for policies to reduce underage access to these products.
-A mapping study of proximity to the nearest hemp business across the Twin Cities metro area, a discussion of how demographic and geographic characteristics are related to proximity, and implications for zoning policies and enforcement strategies.
-A study of the use of different types of cannabis products in Minnesota and implications for policies that affect retail availability of hemp-derived vs. non-hemp cannabis products.
-Focus group studies with American Indian and African American populations to understand the perceptions of cannabis and cannabis legalization and implications for equitable implementation of recreational cannabis legislation.
