Last week, the Hennepin-University Partnership hosted its annual Fall Mixer. This year’s focus was Youth Mental Health, bringing together 75 educators, public health professionals, researchers, and community leaders to address the pressing mental health challenges facing young people today. The event fostered meaningful discussions on systemic barriers to care, the role of schools as key access points for mental health services, and innovative approaches to building community-driven solutions. Key topics included the impact of social media and climate anxiety on youth mental health, the importance of culturally competent interventions, and the critical need to involve youth voices in shaping programs and policies.
The conversations sparked collaborations aimed at addressing root causes, from housing instability to systemic inequities, and highlighted the power of community engagement in creating lasting change. Thank you to everyone who attended for joining us in shaping a healthier future for Minnesota’s youth.
