Drug Pricing and Access to Care: Understanding the 340B Program

Event Location

Online

The federal 340B Drug Pricing Program allows eligible hospitals and clinics serving low-income and underserved patients to purchase outpatient prescription drugs at significant discounts from pharmaceutical manufacturers. It was created to help safety-net providers stretch scarce resources and expand access to care for underserved populations. In recent years, however, the program has grown in complexity, particularly with the increasing role of third-party administrators that manage contract pharmacy arrangements, compliance, and data reporting.

In this HUP webinar, Dr. Sayeh Nikpay will examine the evolution of the 340B program, the factors driving the growth of the program, and how these changes affect hospitals, pharmacies, manufacturers, and patients. The presentation will explore current policy debates, regulatory challenges, and implications for health care costs, access, and oversight.

This webinar will be of interest to health policy professionals, public health practitioners, health system leaders, researchers, policymakers, and others interested in pharmaceutical policy and health care financing.
